Competition Results

We are pleased to announce the following list of awardees of the 1st Hong Kong International Composition Competition for Chromatic Harmonica 2021 (ICCCH).

Category A - Chromatic Harmonica and Piano

Category B - Chromatic Harmonica with Chamber Orchestra

All submitted works have been reviewed by the Jury comprising 7 members of world recognized composers and harmonica players. The Jury and the Organising Committee of ICCCH are impressed by the high standards of the submitted works. In particular the works entered for Category B competition are of a more noteworthy standard. The Committee and Jury have decided to allocate more Merit Awards to Category B to recognize the contestants’ achievements.

To enable the works to reach a wider audience, selected pieces will be performed on various occasions:

• 8 selected harmonica with piano works will be recorded into a CD by Hong Kong professional harmonica players in mid November 2021. The CD will later be released.

• Selected winning pieces and noteworthy works for harmonica and piano will be performed by distinguished harmonica players in the Concert “Absolutely Harmonica” to be held in Auditorium, Sha Tin Town Hall at 7:30 pm on 18 December 2021 in Hong Kong. (https://www.hkharmonica.org/)

The Organising Committee of ICCCH, the Hong Kong Harmonica Association and the Jury would like to congratulate all contestants and winners for their outstanding achievements.

The competition has successfully met its objective of promoting and encouraging the creation of new compositions for the harmonica and exploring possibilities in the instrument. The ICCCH committee and the Hong Kong Harmonica Association would like to express appreciation to the Hong Kong Art Development Council, our patrons, advisors, the jury panel and other supporting organizations for funding and supporting this event.
