Competition Schedule

The competition comprises 3 phases.


Phase 1: Submission

In October 2020, the Association announces the commencement of Phase 1 and is currently calling for submission. The deadline is 15 September 2021. For detailed specifications and procedures of submission, please refer to the Rules and Regulations Section 3.

In order to enable the Association to better understand the variety of artistic dimensions and numbers of prospective entries and better prepare for adjudication process, the Association encourages all prospective submission entries to submit the registration form by 1 July 2021. The contents of which including the full score can be changed before the submission deadline.

Phase 2: Adjudication

In October 2021, the Association will organise the works and invite local and overseas adjudicators to review the submitted compositions. No less than two overseas judges and five local judges will review all the eligible applications. Results of the Competition will be announced by the end of October 2021.


Phase 3: Distribution

From November 2021 onwards, the Association will invite no less than 8 contestants, including the winners of the Competition and other outstanding contestants at the Competition, to contribute their original compositions for studio recording by professional harmonica musicians. An album will be printed with all the recordings to be released to the public for free with the goal to promote original harmonica music compositions.
